A Sunday post? Well, that’s weird, right? Just kidding, you probably didn’t even notice, but I’m shaking my head and laughing at myself because I’ve been so off my regular scheduled blogging game for the past 6 weeks, just trying to keep my head above water with our lack of routine/easing back into routine. I anticipate a more regular schedule in two weeks and until then I’m just holding on until then.

So, let’s just have a little fun and catch up. This is what life looks like… currently.

Currently Watching

The Middle as a family. We’re spending our after dinner evenings watching an episode or two and getting a lot of giggles. It’s edgy enough with a wholesome undertone and it’s been fun!

Currently Reading

I’m so glad I joined a book club because I realize I need to be forced to read at this stage of life. I just finished Twice, which was an engaging and easy to read tale about a man with a special power to do things over in life and the consequences that come from it. Now I’m reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, a fascinating read on bioethics that surely will result in some lively discussion.

Currently Listening To

…like right at this moment? Absolute silence. H and David are at soccer practice. K is at a friend’s house. Finley is snoozing on my bed. This is wild! But lately it’s been either a Marco Polo from a friend, 60’s music with H, Broadway favorites with K, or heavy metal or rap while working out with David. Quite the eclectic mix, huh?

Currently Eating

Nothing in particular. But that’s a boring answer. So here are a few recent eats; most of them served in the bowls I use for almost every dinner.

  • Taco rice bowls with the best chips (use code AHEALTHYSLICE20)
  • Spaghetti and slow cooker meatballs with fresh basil and parsley and parmesan
  • Weird breakfast of eggs, beans, kimchi, and cottage cheese
  • Boiled eggs that all peeled flawlessly (kitchen miracle)
  • Blackened salmon rice bowl with corn, black beans, rice, avocado, tomato, and a lime crema
  • Grilled chicken Cobb salads

Currently Drinking

I realize I might have a drinking problem.

I get maybe 40 ounces of water a day from just water, but other than that it’s morning 1/3 caffeinated coffee, this Earl Grey for the morning, either Cup of Calm to relax or Earl Green if I need a boost in the afternoon, and then Nighty Night Extra after dinner for a good night’s sleep. Factor in a Spindrift, pre-workout, and aminos during the workout and I’m drinking quite a few potions throughout the day!

Currently Planning

Travel! The next 12 months are full of some incredible trips for us, something we’ve been dreaming of and planning for.

Blackberry Farm, Big Sky skiing, Italy, and MACHU PICCHU (with Nana + my bro and crew, too!). We always hoped we’d be in a place to be able to take some special trips while the girls were in their high school years, and it’s surreal and exciting to start bringing these dreams to life.

Read about our first Big Sky family ski trip here. We’re basically hoping to recreate it!

Currently In the Market For

Well, it was curtains for the living room but I had a custom guy come out for a quote and it turns out people were right when they said custom drapery is $$$$$.

I am wanting to freshen up my workout leggings. I have been using the same pairs of Amazon leggings for years now and they are feeling a little stretched out. Any recs?

Currently Looking Forward To

Buckling up for this fall season. Between homeschool, co-op, piano, theater, soccer, youth group, and eventually basketball, our weeks are fully scheduled. But we chose all of this and even though some days might feel a little crazy, I’m really excited about it all. As long as I can stay ahead on my meal plan/feeding everyone game, I love the energy of fall. Also… we are only 11 days away from COLLEGE FOOTBALL!! (Enter the joyful, jumping Buddy the Elf meme here).

Currently on the Farm

Earl is still a part of the fam. I still go back and forth on it every day. Honestly the heat has been so intense that I haven’t been spending much time with the chickens beyond filling food and water and gathering eggs so it hasn’t been much of an issue. But when things cool off a smidge and I want to go sit with the chickens and snuggle, we’ll see. If he doesn’t let me near the ladies without getting feisty… well, I just don’t see how that will work out.

Please notice below that I caught a quick pic of Heyhey and how she’s been escaping. She’s hilarious and usually pops out of the fence once or twice a day. Yesterday she waddled up to our front door and pecked at it as if knocking. It made Finley go nuts but I freaking loved it.

I ripped up most of my summer garden. I don’t really seeing me doing much for fall beyond some simple lettuces and herbs.

FYI, as for herbs, if you’ve been waiting for a good time to get one of the Click & Grow counter top gardens, they are having a Back to School Sale from August 12th to the 19th, the entire site is 21% off with my code: AHS. I have the Smart Garden 9 which I use for inside herbs every winter.

And that’s all folks! Time to go plant some plant babies I picked up this morning and work on decorating my new dining room shelf. The room is really coming together!

If you enjoy these little glimpses into our everyday life — the meals, the books, the projects, the farm updates, and the honest in-between moments — I’d love for you to join my newsletter.
