7 New York Fashion Week Runway Trends That Are Surprisingly Wearable for Fall

Luckily, some of the most popular trends we saw repeated throughout popular designer collections may already be hanging in your closet. For example, fall outerwear trends are still going strong with toppers like cropped trench coats and windbreakers strutting down runways left and right.

Many Spring 2027 collections—Sandy Liang, Khaite, Ralph Lauren—leaned into sharp tailoring and strong suiting with iterations of vests, blazers and trouser sets.

In contrast to the professional workwear, designers also delivered plenty of casual looks to pull off-duty inspiration from as well. Fall’s most comfortable denim trend, loose low-rise jeans, were abundant, often mixed with unexpectedly romantic tops such as a lace camisole or something sheer on runways.

As far as runway handbag trends go, vintage-inspired styles were popular all of fashion week. In particular, suede handbags of the east-west silhouette proved to be the ‘It’ handbag for fall, both in collections and street style. Knitwear also got a sporty refresh for fall, with polo necklines, rugby stripes and sporty silhouettes were plentiful.
